EMS Division

The primary responsibility of Station 27 is to provide emergency medical service for the Budd Lake section of Mt. Olive Township and mutual aid for our sister companies in Flanders, Long Valley, Netcong, Hackettstown, and Byram, as well as to the New Jersey State Police, on I-80.
As dedicated volunteers, the squad's members maintain the highest standards and we train tirelessly for the unfortunate time when someone may need our assistance.
Currently, we are staffed with over 30 New Jersey certified Emergency Medical Technician's (EMTs) and several of our members are trained at the Standard First Aid and Emergency Medical Responder levels. Also, all of our members are certified in Basic Life Support/Health Care Provider level CPR and they are trained in the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED).
Always looking to expand on our training we hold monthly drills on a veritable plethora of topics that truly span one's life.  We drill in childbirth, other obstetrical, psychiatric, medical, and traumatic emergencies, and we regularly drill on cardiopulmonary resuscitation. We hope you never need us, but if you do, we'll be ready to provide you with the highest quality of care imaginable!

The EMS division operates three Basic Life Support (BLS) transport ambulances that can carry as many as three patients each. Each ambulance in adequately supplied with some of the very latest in emergency equipment to keep us prepared for almost any type of incident.

Also part of the EMS Division is our First Responder program. Started over a decade ago the program cuts our response time in half or less, enabling us to get initial care direct to the scene as fast as possible.
After the Squad is dispatched for a call it takes between 5 and 10 minutes for members to get from home to our headquarters and then to the scene, which is well within the industry standard. The First Responder goes direct to the scene and initiates patient care even more rapidly!
The First Responder program utilizes a custom made 2003 Ford F-250 with a utility box that carries the same equipment that is in our ambulances. The vehicle also has 4-wheel drive capability, which allows us to reach some of the more remote locations of our response area, areas that an ambulance simply cannot reach.
Since the First Responder program began, it has been credited with saving countless lives and has been emulated by many other EMS organizations.
