We offer different classifications for our members, this section describes the differences.
Please note that the below list consists of only the minimum training required to be a member, unless otherwise noted. Members are required to further their education within specific time-frames, which will be discussed at the time of application.
Membership Classifications:
Auxiliary- Helps with our operations by donating hours for fund-raising and offers administrative support. No certifications are required. Auxiliary members are not responsible for holding duty crews and they do not respond to emergencies.
Active- These members are the core of our organization. Although they serve a probationary period as all members do, they hold assigned duty crews and respond to emergency calls. This classification requires that the member hold a minimum of CPR and First Aid, they have one year to advance that certification to EMT.
Associate- These members are members of other emergency service organizations, who usually serve on an assigned duty crew, but who can not commit the hours needed to hold active membership status, due to their commitment to other emergency service organizations. A minimum of CPR and First Aid Training is required. Associate members are encouraged to advance their certification to EMT as soon as possible.
Cadet- These members are high school students who hold assigned duty crews between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on weeknights and 5:00 a.m. through 11:00 p.m. on weekends. Parental approval is mandatory for these positions. Parents must meet with our squad officers prior to the prospective member receiving an application package.
Rescue- These members respond to calls for our rescue team (water rescue, vehicular extrication, etc.). They hold assigned shifts and are required to have specialized training in rescue operations and procedures. They must also have a minimum of a CPR certification.
Also, please note: The application process can be rather lengthy, so we highly recommend that you contact us as soon as possible if you would like to become a member of our organization.
